What is a Dispensing Optician?
Dispensing Opticians interpret prescriptions from Optometrists and Ophthalmologists in order to determine the specification of lenses and dispense spectacles to meet those specifications.
What on earth does that mean? After considering your prescription, occupation, lifestyle needs and face shape; they are there to recommend the best frames, lenses and coating options that suit you as an individual.
Dispensing Opticians are also trained in taking specific measurements of the frame and how it sits on your face to ensure when you receive your glasses, you’re getting the best vision possible!
At Oamaru Eyecare we have two qualified and registered Dispensing Opticians onsite to ensure your spectacle needs are reached at the highest level.
Our Dispensing Opticians (Kate and Courtney) can be found in practice either taking good care of you along your eye care journey or out in the lab fitting lenses into your frames and performing repairs to get you back to seeing as soon as possible.
